Wuthering Heights Readalong - DeepDive - Discussion - Flailing

Ooooh, I'm going to need a WH icon! Maybe we should start with an icon challenge!

Anywho. Let's set a date for our Wuthering Heights discussion. Once a date is set, this gives folks time to procure a copy and begin reading. This book is best discussed in small bites. So, once we set a date, we can then set a reading assignment. I'm sure this would be "cleaner" in a dedicated comm but I've started so many comms these past few years only to have them shrivel up and die from lack of brain food. I don't mind hosting here, but that's not idea either!

I was hanging back to see if a consensus would start to form, as I have the book on my shelf with wood engravings by Fritz Eichenberg, so I have no lower limit on a reading date. I know that's not exactly helpful for picking one, though!

I've never participated in an icon challenge, so I would be interested just to know what that's like. It's also a good idea because the story is renowned for its visuals.

I wish I had helpful suggestions for the logistics involved, but all I have is enthusiasm.

I'm frustrated no one is chiming in! But that's okay, too! Do you think we need a comm???

Hmm. I imagine comms must be a fair amount of work, so it would be disheartening for you if it wasn't sustainable! Are you thinking it would be a specific Wuthering Heights comm, or more generally for something like gothic literature? The latter seems like it would have slightly wider applicability for future discussion topics, if the Wuthering Heights bookclub works out. But I am just thinking out loud there. I just did a quick search for book comms to see what's around, and there's not much discussion on any of the ones I saw, just generalized "what are you reading now" check ins. Comms seem to really struggle. :(

If it's easier, I also wouldn't mind it being a series of posts on your journal. Wherever it is hosted, it would simply become one of my daily check ins.
