I've tried. Snuck an hour in here and a half hour in there. Werewolves appeared to me - 

Run and run and run and hide. Burrow and dig and twist and hide. Under the roots, under the bed. Hide and hide and hide. Lest you’re found and dragged out into the light. Blinded and made smaller in the day. You flourish beneath the moonlight, wither in the sunlight.

And then the verb becomes the noun. They’ve trapped you and moved in with clubs. You’re skinned and your hide stretched and hung for all to see. Destroyed, vanquished, no more. 

But in the woods, there is a domicile, and, in that den, there is your mate and beneath her body squirms her pup, eyes and ears closed. This dyad foul, in the ways that you are foul. To the hunted and the hunter. 

Don’t go into the village, you’ve been taught, they will do you harm. But only after you’ve rent them limb from limb from limb.

 

But. Even if I could figure out one story, I certainly don't have two in me this week. I feel it's only right to save one of you amazing writers who are writing LONG and writing so very well! Here's to you! Slainthe!

Yes! My dad, who's been reading my poetry at poetry readings at his senior living center, just asked me to send him more. That's when I realized that nearly all the poetry I've written in the last two years was for Idol!

You did amazing to get through to this stage of the competition (which seems labyrinthine in its complexity this time) especially with everything you've been dealing with. Two stories is such a lot to ask at any time. You know when it's time to take a step back.
Though for what it's worth I thought that first line *was* a story starter so.. :)

*GLOMPS* Thank you, hon. It has been getting progressively more difficult to wring the words out. I just need to find time for a daily practice again. Not just for Idol, of course! Perhaps in the New Year!!! Hope you are well and creating!

I'm so sorry to see you go! But I understand why two entries would be too much. :( I had to finish the first entry and write the second while out-of-town for a wedding, and it ate more time than I would have liked and produced a choppy result that I had to heavily revise.

We'll miss your writing, but you have to put yourself and your family first.

Thanks, K. Hard to throw the towel in but I just have wrung out my last creative word for a while. I'm going to set a discipline for daily writing in the New Year. Now onward and upward into the holiday season!

You've been writing like it's a job and I've been astonished at how many words you're pouring out - good ones, too! Keep going, if the wheel allows!
